NAFI and EAA Jointly Submit Comments on Proposed Changes to the Sport Pilot Rule

August 18, 2008 - Last week NAFI working with EAA jointly submitted comments to the FAA's proposed changes to the Sport Pilot Rule this week with the goal of maintaining the original intent of the rule: continuing to reduce recreational aviation's cost and regulatory barriers.

The NPRM (Certification of Aircraft and Airmen for the Operation of Light-Sport Aircraft rule, docket no. FAA-2007-29015) contains 22 proposed changes, making this the first major upgrade of the rule since it was implemented in 2004. While EAA and NAFI agree with many of the changes, they submitted several recommendations on those they oppose.  NAFI and EAA appreciate the opportunity to work with the FAA in this revision process and are hopeful that the FAA will consider and implement the proposed changes offered in the document submitted.
